If you have been anywhere other than under a rock this past week, you would have surely come across news regarding sexual allegations against high profile movie producer, Harvey Weinstein.
I guess all the stories we’ve heard about Hollywood have been true all this time.
These accusations have opened the floodgates to more sexual harassment accusations across the showbiz industry. The most popular star to follow Weinstein has undoubtedly been the popular TV series House of Cards star Kevin Spacey. Leaving his fans, including me, utterly disgusted and confused.
I can’t believe that I actually adored this guy for his absolutely remarkable acting, I’m sure anyone who has watched the House of Cards can relate to this.
Kevin Spacey has enjoyed a great amount of stardom from a number of top rated Hollywood flicks such as The Usual Suspects, American Beauty and Se7en. But of course, his performance on the Netflix production “House of Cards” for which he was nominated for an Emmy for five years in a row stand out the most. Before his rise to stardom though, Kevin Spacey was even involved in a number of Broadway productions.
The allegations were made by Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp, who hardcore Star Trek followers remember as Lieutenant Paul Stamets. If that doesn’t ring a bell, then go and watch Star Trek. What are you doing with your life?
Anyway, Rapp in an interview with BuzzFeed revealed that Spacey, then at the age of 26, tried to make sexual advancements towards him; Anthony Rapp was 14 at the time.
Can you believe this stuff? The actor who plays Frank Underwood sexually harassed a minor.
Rapp came out when the production of the sixth season of Spacey’s House of Cards was underway. According to the BuzzFeed interview, Rapp was at a party in 1986 held at Spacey’s apartment when Kevin Spacey picked up Rapp, lay him on his bed, and climbed on top of the child actor. Rapp and Spacey had known each other prior to this encounter on account of each other’s Broadway work.
This makes me sick.
Rapp further added referring to Harvey Weinstein scene,
“I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out, to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me,”
Kevin Spacey came out on his twitter account to respond to the accusations he wrote that he was beyond horrified by the story. He explains that more than 30 years have passed to the incident hence he does not remember such an encounter. Spacey also apologized to the actor if what he says is true and puts it off to “inappropriate drunken behavior”.

However, this statement from Spacey has received a lot of criticism from the public:
That Kevin Spacey statement. Nope. Absolutely not. Nope.

For a famous person to deflect these accusations with a long-in-the-making coming out is so cruel to his supposed new community it stings

Following this series of events, Netflix announced that they would not be continuing with House of Cards, as long as Kevin Spacey is in it. House of cards has been one of Netflix’s most popular releases to date.
Producers of the show have been reported to be considering either killing off Spacey’s character, Francis Underwood or moving the show towards a spin-off series.
I, like many others, was waiting so anxiously for the 6th season. I don’t know how the show will go on now if they choose to continue it without the lead role.
According to the latest news, Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein have checked into the same sex addiction rehabilitation centre in Arizona State.
